Nice piece on technological unemployment and fluid intelligence. This seems to be a good “thought model” as to why “this time may be different.”
Though, as these things go, the future is all but impossible to predict. Perhaps humans could retain their “edge” by merging with the machines themselves? Brain implants can give humans superhuman capabilities, conceivably, around the time AGI or ASI arrives.
